The membership team of the Society for Education and Training (SET) are gearing up to provide support to QTLS applicants in the coming months as they prepare for the most popular application window opening on 1 September.

SET are running two QTLS webinars in September and October 2017 to give you all the information you need to complete your registration.

Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) is the badge of professionalism for practitioners in the Further Education and Training sector. It is a nationally-recognised status that you can gain by successfully completing a professional formation process, enabling you to develop and demonstrate your skills and knowledge through your practice.

Achieving QTLS signals to employers and colleagues your commitment to excellence, and the additional impact this brings to your teaching.

What are the benefits?

  • Enhances your career prospects and allows you to use the initials as a designation and display a QTLS digital pin on your online profiles.
  • Provides valuable CPD that will enhance your knowledge and skills, and build your confidence.
  • Offers the unique opportunity to engage with relevant educational theory and research collaboratively with colleagues to improve your practice.
  • Recognises your status as a professional teacher or trainer by law as equal to QTS for teaching in schools.
  • Sets you on the pathway to Advanced Teacher Status (ATS), which recognises mastery level expertise in experienced teachers and trainers.

Access to QTLS is one of the key membership benefits of the Society for Education and Training (SET).

Alessia Di Meo, a Functional Skills tutor, said:

“I would recommend QTLS because it has been very rewarding and fulfilling. Employers are looking for staff who are committed to continuous professional development. Having QTLS definitely boosts job prospects”

Calvin Maye, MIS Manager, said:

“QTLS is a fantastic way to not only unlock and improve your teaching practice, but it is a great industry-recognised qualification. It will enhance your reputation and career prospects as well as demonstrating to your learners your continued dedication to improving teaching and learning.”
